The reasons people are intimidated about trying yoga are the very reasons they need to practice yoga. At Annex Yoga Studio, we offer a warm, friendly and welcoming environment where students immediately feel at ease to simply do their best without the burden of expectation.
The studio is heated to 86-88 degrees which we find to be ideal to stretch and flow. Our instructors vary the tempo and content of classes based on the needs of the participants that day. There is no script. The core structure of our classes is a power vinyasa which is characterized by a relatively vigorous flow through an array of poses with varying lengths of holds. Students are guided through flowing sequences that fluctuate in terms of vigor, theme, pace, and focused work. Modifications, up or down, are liberally offered along with verbal and physical adjustments to aid students in getting the most out of each practice. In this way, all classes are appropriate for all levels of experience whether it’s your first class or your hundredth class.
A regular practice of yoga can improve flexibility, balance, concentration, athletic performance and offers a variety of health benefits. Students often report better sleep, lower blood pressure, increased work capacity and an overall sense of well-being. Athletes across the board report increased range of motion, enhanced performance levels, less soreness, and a greater resistance to injury.
Although recent global health concerns have necessitated some spacing and administrative changes, we remain true to our mission of providing quality yoga instruction in a welcoming environment.
